The Predictable Sentence

As I introduce new sight words
(in this photo, I and like),
students begin to understand
how words in print convey a message.

Day 1:
As a class each child chooses a word to fill in the blank after I like ___________.  Count the number of words in the predictable sentence.

Day 2:
Students read their sentence to the class using a pointer. They should lift the pointer with each word.

Day 3:
Students cut apart the students sentence strips so that each word is its own card. The children sort their words so they can read their sentence once again to a partner. The children take their sentence pieces home to read to their parents.

Day 4:
Students illustrate their sentence for a class book.
